Pakistan: The Real Story

Hi guys! So, if you've read my previous post, I told you that my family and I are from Pakistan. You may have heard the name of the country before, if you keep up with the news... I know bad things are usually linked to Pakistan. It is known as a terrorist ground, and "The Most Dangerous Country in the World." What most people do not know is that Pakistan is also listed as "The Most Beautiful Country in the World" filled with mountains, lakes, and greenery.

I agree, though, Pakistan is definitely not going through its best times. Many people who live there do not receive any education, let alone a college one! However, no one goes there to help. It seems just too dangerous. But is it really that bad? I don't really know. I don't think that the media is accurate AT ALL. They will blow up stories and change up words just to make a story more interesting. I think people are just too gullible, and the world is definitely taking advantage of that.

I am going to post some pictures of Pakistan. No, I didn't take them myself and I do not own them in any way. I just want to show you- Pakistan is beautiful if you look at the right places.

If you want to know more about Pakistan, do some real research and try to not use media sources. Or better- for a true take on the beauty of Pakistan, just ask me!

About Me

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog (I am welcoming myself, also!) I have always wanted to have a blog so here it is. If you don't know me already, I am a teen who loves to read and write. I have written a novel, but I'm not so proud of it... My "inspiration" was Eragon because I found Christopher Paolini's books simply enchanting. I wrote the book, and I daresay I impressed my family and friends, but soon I realized that it wasn't an original idea. It was a copycat novel, and a short one at that. However, I am proud to say that I have started another novel, which is an original novel. It has something to do with the future and a prophecy, but I can't spill more than that.

I live with my parents, two younger sisters, and my cat, Raja. Raja means "King" in our native tongue, Urdu. My family and I are from Pakistan, which is an Asian country located near India and China. My parents were born and raised in Pakistan, but my sisters and I were born in America. I love my rich cultural background and I am so lucky to be able to speak Urdu and enjoy spicy Pakistani food.

That brings me to my next passion- food. I love food of all cuisines (Pakistani, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese just to name a few.) I enjoy cooking and baking new things and experimenting in the kitchen. I also love to eat. My uncle once said, "Some people eat to live and some people live to eat. What about you?" Of course I answered "I live to eat," and we both enjoyed the moment. Maybe I might post some recipes or pictures of my cooking... I watch Food Network all the time and I know quite a bit about food compared to the average kid. My parents call me Kishi after Asako Kishi, a Japanese judge on the original Iron Chef. I always tend to make critical remarks about the food we eat at various restaurants.

Fashion is also something I take part in. I recently "dip-dyed" by dark brown (almost black) hair. Now the tips are reddish brown, and I find myself enjoying my new look. I love clothes and I am kind of a shopaholic. Don't get me wrong though, I am not the typical fashion loving teenager. I know a lot about the world and I like to be aware of issues and conflicts of our time. I am very opinionated, and I have my own idea of the way the government should handle things. I enjoy public speaking and volunteering. Like my blog says, I want a change. But the first step to changing the world is to be that change. I have quoted a Michael Jackson song, Man in the Mirror, below. It applies to the world, and I think that not many people live by this. Wanting a change isn't going to make it happen. You get up, and you make it happen.

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
